The completion of UNMC + Nebraska Medicine’s Innovation Design Unit, located on level six of University Tower at Nebraska Medical Center, marks the most complex DIRTT project undertaken by AOI.

Over the course of nearly a year and a half, this pioneering space was designed to revolutionize healthcare delivery by integrating advanced technologies and innovative design.

Unique aspects such as rooms transformable from single to dual occupancy, embedded AV solutions, and capability for positive and negative pressure rooms highlight DIRTT’s innovative approach. Flex Gas systems are used to efficiently manage critical medical gas supply, enabling future expansion without service disruptions.

The unit also features a “bridge space” for developing new healthcare innovations, facilitating collaboration among clinicians, researchers, and industry partners. This project is part of Project Health, a $2.19 billion initiative with the University of Nebraska Medical Center to create a leading-edge facility for healthcare and education, elevating Nebraska’s profile on the landscape of national healthcare providers and placing Nebraska Medicine at the forefront of medical innovation.
